- Organization level – System design (Does the organization system provide structure & policies supporting the desired performance?)
- The organization of Madison Union doesn’t provide structure and policies for the desired performance for the operations assistants more than what is listed in the original job descriptions.
- Individual level – System design (Does the individual clear obstacles that impede his or her job performance?)
- The individuals do not always clear obstacles because they do not know how or do not want to, leaving these obstacles to be dealt with by someone else, which leads to more problems.
- Team level – Capacity (Does the team have the combined capacity to effectively & efficiently meet the performance goals?)
- The team never meets together to be able to understand how to effectively and efficiently meet performance goals except for the initial training. If there were to be a change in performance goals, it would be difficult to get the entire team on the same page.
- Organization level – Motivation (Do the policies, culture, & reward systems support the desired performance?)
- No, the policies do not support the desired performance because there is too much flexibility with the rules that are in place, leaving the overall organizational motivation low because it isn’t supported by anything.
- Individual level – Motivation (Does the individual want to perform no matter what?)
- No, most of the individuals are there because they want the money; others are there for the work experience. No one is there for the actual job itself.
- Team level – Expertise (Does the team have the team process expertise to perform?)
- Full team meetings are rare, so if members were not trained with the people they would be working with all the time they are not able to work cohesively as a team. There was no consistent training process the team had to go through.
- Individual level – Expertise (Does the individual have the knowledge & expertise to perform?)
- Not always; the individual, depending on his or her assigned shifts and prior knowledge, may not know how to do all the tasks that are asked of him or her because they don’t always have to do them.
